Palm Coast, FL - A Palm Coast man is facing aggravated battery charges following a violent altercation during a heated debate about religion at a Circle K gas station on Sunday.
According to the Flagler County Sheriff's Office, 22-year-old Hunter Detherow became involved in a heated debate with two men who biked to the gas station around 10:30 pm.
The conversation reportedly began peacefully but escalated when Detherow grew upset after one of the men, who practices Buddhism, interrupted him.
Detherow’s arrest report states the 24-year-old responded to being interrupted by punching one man and stabbing the other.
The victims sustained injuries including a large contusion, bruises, and lacerations.
Both were transported to local hospitals for treatment. Their current conditions are unavailable.
Following the attack, Detherow fled the scene but was located by deputies at his residence early Monday afternoon.
He was taken into custody and is currently being held at the Flagler County Jail on a $300,000 bond.
