Palatka, FL - A Florida mother has been arrested for attempting to sell her 18-month-old daughter to a stranger.
Authorities say 33-year-old Jessica Woods was arrested last week on charges related to the attempted sale of her 18-month-old daughter.
According to the Palatka Police Department, Woods had been seen loitering around a local business for several days with her child on March 5th.
An employee, familiar with Woods from her frequent visits to the business, approached her to offer assistance.
However, Woods reportedly declined help and instead offered to sell her daughter to the employee for $500.
The employee refused, and upon Woods' departure, took the child into the store and contacted the police.
The child was placed in protective custody by the Department of Children and Families before being placed into foster care.
Woods was arrested on March 7th on charges of unlawful desertion of a child, attempted sale of a child, aggravated child abuse, and three counts of child abuse.
Her bond has been set at $255,000.
