Miami-Dade, FL - A South Florida woman faces charges of attempted first-degree murder after allegedly firing a firearm at the father of her child in southwest Miami-Dade last month.
Authorities say the incident occurred on February 23rd near the 10000 block of Southwest 160th Street in Miami.
According to police, 36-year-old Travonna Lashay Bowens called the victim while he was walking with his two children, then drove to meet him after learning of his location.
The victim's children reported witnessing Bowens driving aggressively towards their father, forcing him to take evasive action to avoid being hit.
Upon exiting her vehicle, Bowens allegedly retrieved a gun from the glove compartment and confronted the victim.
Authorities say the gun malfunctioned when Bowens attempted to fire a shot at the victim.
The arrest report states the victim managed to disarm Bowens, then relinquished custody of their child to her in an attempt to de-escalate the situation.
Bowens fled the scene before returning to the victim's residence, where she attempted to seize the previously discharged firearm from him.
Bowens surrendered to police on Tuesday morning and is being held without bond at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
