Suspect Arrested Following Bomb Threat Towards Southwest Florida Tiki Bar

San Carlos Park, FL - A man has been arrested for reportedly making a bomb threat towards a Southwest Florida Tiki Bar last week.

Authorities say the threat was made towards the Tiki Bar in San Carlos Park on February 23rd.

The caller claimed a bomb would detonate at the bar within 20 minutes.

Authorities traced the call to Darren Carmel, who was located at a nearby McDonald's.

Body camera footage captured Carmel admitting to making the false threat.

Carmel reportedly stated his motive was retaliation against bar staff who ejected him from the bar earlier that night for intoxication and disruptive behavior.

Tiki Bar security confirmed the incident.

Carmel was arrested on charges of making a false bomb threat and an out-of-county warrant.

An investigation into the bomb threat remains ongoing.
