Man Arrested for Theft of Giant Red Stick Figure in Stuart

Stuart, FL - Police in Stuart arrested a Florida man on Tuesday after the suspect stole a stick figure sculpture because he "liked it."

Stuart police apprehended Joshua Roach along the 1100 block of US-1 on Tuesday night after a vigilant woman reported his suspicious behavior, notably walking with what appeared to be two large poles.

Upon closer inspection, officers discovered that the poles were integral components of a sizable piece of artwork recently pilfered from a local business in Stuart.

The stolen artwork, showcased in photos shared by the police department, featured a large red stick figure sporting a cheerful face.

Joshua Roach, known for a history of thefts and burglaries, reportedly confessed to snatching the art piece because he liked it.

In an official statement, the officers revealed, "Mr. Roach also had a warrant from Ohio, but it was nonextraditable."

Despite this warrant, Roach was taken into custody and transported to the Martin County Jail, where he now faces a theft charge.

Officers placed the confiscated artwork on the front of their patrol vehicle to transport it back to the station, ensuring its prompt return to the rightful business owner.
