Polk County, FL - A routine traffic stop for an obstructed license plate resulted in the arrest of a Polk County man on drug charges after methamphetamine was found on his driver's license.
Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd says what initially seemed like a minor infraction escalated when methamphetamine was discovered in Robert Brush's car and on the edges of his driver's license.
Sheriff Judd emphasized the bizarre nature of the arrest, stating, "Well, that’s no big deal unless, of course, you’ve got meth in your car, meth in your waistband, and, oh, by the way, when the nice deputy stops to ask for your driver’s license and stops to tell you that you’ve got an obstructed tag, and you hand him your driver’s license and there’s methamphetamine on the edges of your driver’s license that you hand the deputy. You can’t make this stuff up."
According to Judd, Brush has a history of encounters with law enforcement, having been incarcerated in the Polk County Jail multiple times and also serving time in state prison.
Sheriff Judd commented on the Brush's arrest, stating, "After all, when you advertise that you’ve got a bad license on your car, and then you got meth on your driver’s license, you’re just asking for trouble. If you’re talking about a crazy criminal, here he is, and he’s locked up in jail."
