Chase Bank ATM Technician Robbed, Cash Recovered, Suspect Apprehended

Miami-Dade County, FL - A robbery attempt at a South Florida Chase Bank ATM ended with a suspect apprehended and almost $40,000 in stolen cash recovered.

Kedrick McGee, a 24-year-old from Houston, Texas, is now facing charges after allegedly strong-arming an ATM technician and grabbing a cash cassette worth $38,240.

The incident unfolded on Sunday afternoon. Surveillance footage and an ATM technician's account paint a harrowing picture.

The technician arrived at the Chase Bank branch on West Flagler Street to address a service request. Within an hour, a white Chevrolet Equinox pulled up, and two masked figures emerged.

One pushed the technician back, snatched the cash cassette, and passed it to his accomplice.

The thieves then sped off in the Chevy, leaving the technician shaken but unharmed.

Quick thinking played a crucial role in the apprehension.

The driver of the SUV they crashed into followed the Chevy, noting the license plate and alerting authorities.

Police officers intercepted the fleeing vehicle, prompting two men, including McGee, to abandon it and flee on foot.

A canine unit tracked McGee down near a nearby home, where he was hiding with a backpack full of $20 bills – evidence matching the stolen cash.

He was arrested on charges of masked robbery and resisting arrest, invoking his right to remain silent upon questioning.

While McGee remains behind bars without bond, the search for his accomplices continues. Authorities urge anyone with information to contact Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers.
