South Florida Man Arrested for Stealing SpongeBob Necklace

Miami-Dade, FL - Police arrested a South Florida man who allegedly stole a "yellow metal necklace with a SpongeBob pendant" from another man on Monday.

The theft occurred around 12:35 p.m. on the 400 block of Lincoln Road.

According to reports, the suspect, identified as Carl Banks, approached the victim, began yelling at him, then snatched the $100 necklace from his neck.

Banks fled the scene and boarded a Miami-Dade County bus.

The victim provided police with a video and photo of Banks, which led them to issue a "Be On the Lookout" alert.

Officers later located Banks walking towards a bus stop on the 300 block of Lincoln Road and detained him.

The victim identified Banks as the person who robbed him.

The victim's necklace was found nearby, partially broken, and was impounded as evidence.

Banks was transported to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center and booked on a charge of strong-arm robbery with prejudice.
