Man Arrested for Breaking Equipment After Failing Eye Exam

Broward County, FL - A Florida man was arrested for allegedly throwing and breaking thousands of dollars worth of equipment after he failed his eye exam while trying to get his driver's license updated.

On October 18th, 64-year-old Eric Louis Margolis was at a Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles office trying to get the address on his driver's license corrected.

According to the Broward County Sheriff's Office arrest report, Margolis became upset when employees informed him he would need to retake his license photo and vision test to get a new license issued.

The arrest report states that Margolis became upset at the mention of the vision test and raised his voice, causing a disturbance.

Eventually, he agreed to take the test but insisted on keeping one eye closed during the exam.

When the 64-year-old was told that this would not count, Margolis began screaming at the workers.

Witnesses say that Margolis slammed his hands on the table before throwing a printer and an eye examination machine across the room.

Margolis triggered an alarm after he left the office through an emergency exit.

The damages caused by Margolis amounted to $2,600, and a warrant was issued for his arrest after a representative from Florida Highway Safety requested to press charges.

Margolis was arrested on November 30th and is facing criminal mischief charges.
