Pensacola FL - A man who faced more than 1,200 sex crime charges has been found guilty by an Escambia County jury.
Robert Cota, of Pensacola, has been found guilty of sexual battery (victim less than 12 years of age), sexual battery (while in a position of custodial authority), aggravated child abuse, and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Cota's accused of sexually abusing a child from the age of 11 until they turned 14.
The Florida State Attorney's Office says when officers made contact with the victim, they discovered the child bore "extensive bruising, scars, and marks from months of physical abuse at the hands of Robert Cota."
Cota has been sentenced to two consecutive life sentences, coupled with an additional 35 years in the Department of Corrections.
