Home Improvement Program Under Microscope In Miami-Dade

Miami-Dade may crack down on a home improvement funding program. Commissioner Raquel Regalado says they're voting on a bill to increase consumer protections by requiring providers explain exactly how much improvements will cost with current interest rates. The Property Assessed Clean Energy Program -or PACE-offers owners a way to pay for big ticket items without running a credit check or putting money down because they use their homes as collateral. Residents are upset because the state's largest provider--Y-Green--stopped doing business in Florida amid financial issues-- leaving thousands of homeowners with no money to pay for their projects.
