The Broward County Property Appraiser and Sheriff Gregory Tony say they nabbed an alleged fraudster during an undercover operation at a Cooper City title company.
Braden Antonio Emdin is alleged to have falsified a deed, notary stamp, and last will and testament in an attempt to take possession of a home.
BSO says he pretended to be the grandson of a deceased 96-year-old Tamarac woman who was the sole owner of the home by forging the deed and a will naming himself as the heir to the property.
BSO deputies arrested Emdin on charges of grand theft of more than $100,000, unlawful filing of false property documents, and obtaining property over $50,000 by fraud.
BSO investigators also say they also seized documents containing social security numbers, names, dates of birth, credit cards, pin numbers, tax returns, and instruction on how to file fraudulent documents. BCPA and BSO will be sending letters to potential victims, according to Broward Property Appraiser Marty Kiar.
