One person has died as a result of a Broward Sheriff’s Office rescue helicopter crash in Pompano Beach.
The helicopter came crashing down on a small apartment building in the 1000 block of Northwest Sixth Avenue, near Blanche Ely High School. A crew of three were reportedly in the helicopter, two have been transported by Pompano Beach Rescue to an area hospital. No update on their condition. At least two men in the living room of the apartment unit impacted were transported to North Broward General. The building was evacuated.
The chopper reportedly suffered loss of tail rotor effectiveness enroute to the nearby airport.
