The Palm Beach County School District has confirmed that one of its schools is being investigated for allowing players on its football team who should not be attending the school.

Former Royal Palm Beach High School football coach Willie Bueno tells CBS 12 News that the Florida Athletics Association requires parents to sign an affidavit confirming their student's legal address when he or she signs up for a team.

"Whether that's accurate, you know, that's where it gets funny for coaches and schools. We don't have the resources, nor do we have the time to go investigate where this student is living."

He says that if a case against Palm Beach Central High is proven, the team could wind up having to forfeit the season, which just started last week.

"I've seen schools where their whole seasons have been forfeited, I've seen state championships be vacated. So there's pretty dire costs."

Palm Beach Central's football program has been a winning one for years. Last year the team had a 12-2 season and a shot at the state championship.

This season started with a 15-0 loss to Atlantic High School.
