Lauderhill, FL - A police officer was injured after a suspect tried to flee a DUI traffic stop in Lauderhill on Saturday.
The incident occurred around 8 p.m. along the 5500 block of Northwest 44th Street in Lauderhill.
As the officer approached the vehicle, the driver, identified as 26-year-old Crystalee Tennant-Parnther, opened her door before attempting to flee, resulting in a collision with a fence.
In a bid to escape, Tennant-Parnther reversed her car, striking the officer with the still-open door before attempting to speed away.
However, Tennant-Parnther's escape was thwarted when she crashed into a nearby tree, causing her vehicle to overturn.
The officer sustained leg injuries during the incident and was transported to the hospital for medical attention.
Tennant-Parnther was arrested and booked into the Broward County Main Jail on charges of battery on a law enforcement officer, fleeing with disregard to persons or property, and driving with an expired license.
