Palm Beach County, FL - A former Florida Atlantic University student has been arrested after allegedly breaking into the home of a fitness instructor and climbing into her bed.
The suspect, identified as 27-year-old Stephen Michael Castillo, was arrested on Saturday at the victim's residence in unincorporated Palm Beach County.
According to Castillo's arrest affidavit, the victim stated that her association with Castillo was strictly that of an instructor-student relationship and nothing more.
However, Castillo developed an infatuation with the victim, leading to a series of concerning incidents.
During his time as a student, Castillo would frequently disrupt the victim's classes by showing up uninvited.
After leaving the university, he continued to harass the instructor through social media and email, going as far as to create fictitious accounts to contact the victim.
The victim's distress escalated to the point where she felt compelled to report Castillo's actions to the authorities.
Police say that Castillo, who was previously residing in California, claimed to have heard voices in his head telling him that the victim loved him.
Castillo then took a flight from California to Palm Beach County and used an Uber to reach the victim's residence.
Castillo has been charged with burglary for unlawfully entering the victim's home and remains in custody at the Palm Beach County Jail.
