His choice to succeed Sullenberger is Charlie Crist, former Tampa Bay area congressman, former governor and most recently, the Democrats' losing candidate for governor in 2022.
A release laid out Crist's political career but didn't state an explicit connection to aviation for Crist. The nomination has to be confirmed by the Senate.
