Coral Gables, FL - A 28-year-old Lithuanian man arrived in Miami after spending 121 days at sea while successfully rowing solo and unsupported across the Atlantic Ocean.
Aurimas Valujavičius successfully rowed across the Atlantic Ocean alone, arriving in Miami after four months at sea.
He left Spain the day after Christmas, rowing his single-seat boat, the Lituanica, 5,000 miles to Florida.
Valujavičius is the first Lithuanian to perform a solo, unsupported row from the continent of Europe to the continent of North America.
After 121 days at sea, he arrived at Matheson Hammock Marina near Coral Gables.
Valujavičius rowed for 12 to 14 hours a day, and prepared for the trip for two years.
He was trying to break a world record for speed and distance, but bad weather and currents slowed him down.
Despite the challenges, Valujavičius documented his journey on social media, giving school children and fans from all over the world a front-row seat to his Atlantic crossing.
