St. Pete Family Pleads for Toddler Taylen's Return

ST. PETERSBURG, FL -- Relatives of a missing two year old boy listed in an Amber Alert are asking for help to find him. Police found Taylen Mosley's mother dead in their apartment Thursday, with no sign of the toddler.

Lakita Denson is Taylen's grandmother. Her daughter, 20-year-old Pashun Jeffery, was the child's mother. Denson and other family members appeared at the apartment complex, asking for help in finding the toddler, who's known in the family as "Tay-Tay."

"Somebody saw something, and somebody needs to say something," Denson said to reporters. "Please bring him home!"

Denson says her daughter had been working at a CVS drug store and had just gotten her own apartment. "She wanted more out of life," Denson stated.

Police Chief Anthony Holloway says Taylen's father has not been speaking with police. The dad is in a hospital. Holloway says he showed up at his mother's house Wednesday night with cuts and bleeding, just a short time after neighbors reporting hearing noises at the apartment in the Lincoln Shores complex on 4th Street North. According to Holloway, he then took himself to the hospital. Holloway also revealed that a trail of blood was seen near the apartment where the child's mother was found dead.

"Nothing in our investigation leads us to believe that he is a victim," Holloway said.

Police are checking ponds and other areas near the apartment complex, and are asking for volunteers to search the area Saturday morning. They should gather starting at 8 a.m. at the parking lot of the Winn-Dixie supermarket, 11100 4th Street North.
