The backups along the Turnpike continue on the Treasure Coast. The Florida Highway Patrol has now extended the closure southbound to Becker Road.
Florida drivers have been having a tough time getting between Stuart and Jupiter.
The Turnpike was shut down Friday morning after a fatal crash on the southbound side involving three tractor-trailers near the Martin Highway Exit.
The Florida Highway Patrol says each truck rear-ended the one in front of it.
One of the drivers was trapped in his cab and died at the scene. A second driver was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.
The southbound lanes of the Turnpike are expected to remain closed until the afternoon.
