South Floridians are pausing today to remember the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Miami is considered the first city in the country to have a Martin Luther King Jr. Day Parade.
Today, the 46th annual MLK Parade is taking place in Liberty City.
It follows eight miles that Dr. King traveled during his time in the city.
It steps off at 11 and wraps up with a festival at the MLK Memorial Park.

First Gentlemen Doug Emhoff is marking the holiday at the 5,000 Role Models of Excellence Foundation's 30th annual Dr. Martin L. King Jr. Scholarship Breakfast at the Miami Beach Convention Center.
In Broward County, Fort Lauderdale is hosting a King Holiday Celebration "Continuing the Dream" with a parade along Sistrunk Boulevard beginning at 9:30 and ending at Carter Park for the Multicultural Festival.
MLK Celebration Committee Board Chair Joy Veasy says, it "is really the finale of all the events that we've done the year, showcasing and telling about Dr King and his legacy through song, through awareness, through entertainment, through Arts and crafts."
With teachers working hard to bridge pandemic-caused learning losses, she believes it her committee's duty to showcase and bring awareness to Dr. King's legacy.
The celebration will continue all year long with events including town halls, teen meetings and gatherings for children.
Dania Beach's parade begins at 9:00 at CW Thomas Park with a Peace in the Park Celebration from noon to 5p.
Pompano Beach's parade starts at Blanche Ely High School at 9a and ends at Mitchell Moore Park where the celebration continues.
