Man claims ‘voodoo’ caused him to impregnate 13-year-old

West Palm Beach, FL - A South Florida man facing felony charges for impregnating a 13-year-old girl told detectives that "voodoo" caused him to have sex with the teen.

West Palm Beach police arrested 41-year-old Jean Evenel Innocent on December 19th after the teenage victim was admitted to St. Mary's Medical Center complaining of abdominal pain.

A pregnancy test determined that the teen was roughly six weeks pregnant.

The victim told hospital staff that Innocent had impregnated her after raping her on four different occasions.

According to West Palm Beach police detective Brittany Tatum, the victim told investigators that Innocent entered her room in November, pulled down her pants, and told her to "give me 10 minutes" before raping her.

The victim told police Innocent stopped and said "never mind" after the victim cried and said "no."

During a call recorded by police, Innocent told the victim that she wasn't pregnant because "her period wasn't due for another week" after the victim complained that she'd been "throwing up and the hospital was going to give her a pregnancy test."

Innocent then told the victim “to say no and began making up a story to tell about a relationship with a boy named ‘Semen.'"

Innocent was also recorded telling the victim that if she tells anyone about the rape he'd go to jail.

During an interview with detectives, Innocent told authorities “voodoo” caused him to have sexual intercourse with the teen.

Innocent has been charged with two felony counts of sexual battery with a child, one felony count of incest and one felony count of impregnation of a child.

He's jailed in Palm Beach County without bond.
