Man smacks victim's butt, tries to remove her pants during attempted rape

Miami-Dade, FL - A man was arrested for attempting to rape a woman that he met on a South Florida transit bus.

48-year-old Derrick Perry was arrested by police after attempting to rape the victim at the Golden Glade Park & Ride around 9:30 p.m. Thursday night.

Police say Perry, who was photographed with a bloody yellow shirt after officers say he resisted arrest, approached the victim while on a South Florida transit bus and tried to talk to her.

The victim ignored Perry and got off the bus.

Perry then pushed the victim, smacked her on her buttocks, and attempting to pull off her pants while trying to rape her.

Responding officers apprehended Perry as he attempted to flee the scene by boarding another transit bus.

According to his arrest report, numerous officers had to take Perry to the ground while attempting to arrest him, resulting in Perry suffering a facial injury.

Perry, who has an extensive criminal history, was eventually detained and taken to jail.
