Man arrested for squatting in condemned Southwest Florida home

Naples, FL - Authorities have arrested a 27-year-old man who was found squatting in a Southwest Florida home that was condemned following Hurricane Ian.

Naples Police arrested Alexander Rowland on Wednesday after Rowland was found living inside of an Olde Naples beachfront home.

Police say Rowland, who is a Pennsylvania resident, was spotted in the home by a home watch company on December 7th.

The home watch company called Naples Police, who responded to the scene and placed Rowland under arrest.

According to a post on the Naples Police Department's Facebook page, "the home had been condemned by the City of Naples Building Department after Hurricane Ian."

Authorities say Rowland forced his way into the residence, as the home's doors and stairwells were bolted and boarded shut.

Rowland was arrested on a charge of burglary of an occupied dwelling and criminal mischief under $1,000.

He was taken to the Naples Jail Center.
