Hialeah, FL - A South Florida woman filed a $5 million lawsuit against Kraft Heinz Foods over the company's claim that Velveeta’s Shells & Cheese Original Microwavable is “ready within three and a half minutes."
Amanda Ramirez, the woman who filed the lawsuit, says the company's claim that Velveeta’s Shells & Cheese Original Microwavable is “ready within three and a half minutes” is misleading because it doesn't take into account the time it takes to remove the lid and add sauce and water before stirring.
In court documents, Ramirez says Kraft should be “ordered to cease its deceptive advertising.”
Ramirez is asking for punitive damages, in addition to the $5 million dollars.
Attorneys for Kraft say the lawsuit is frivolous and that they would defend the company against the allegations.
