CENTCOM Commander: The Nation Needs to Recognize Its Real Heroes

On this Veteran's Day, the commander of U.S. Central Command at MacDill AFB, Gen. Michael Kurilla, says Americans sometimes have the wrong idea of who is a hero. "Too often, society's heroes are somebody who can catch a football for $20 million, someone who can sing a song better than the next, or someone who pretends to be someone else in a fictional television script. Every November 11th, for a single day, we pay homage to those who truly deserve it."

Gen. Kurilla, speaking at a Veteran's Day ceremony in Tampa, says celebration is important today because our veterans provide so much for so many.
