Lake County, FL - The 5-year-old boy who was critically injured in a Lake County DUI crash on Saturday has died.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, 30-year-old Daksh Wadhwa now faces a charge of DUI manslaughter following the boy's death.
Investigators say Wadhwa was behind the wheel during Saturday's crash that happened on County Road 448 near Shirley Shores Road in Lake County around 8:30 a.m.
FHP officials say Wadhwa was driving his BMW 740i when he veered into the eastbound lanes and slammed into a Honda Civic.
The 29-year-old driver of the Honda was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center with serious injuries; while the boy was flown to Arnold Palmer Hospital, where he later died.
Wadhwa remained on scene and provided a breath sample that was 0.189, twice the legal limit of 0.08 in Florida.
In addition to the DUI manslaughter charge, Wadhwa also faces charges of DUI with serious bodily injury and possession of cocaine.
