A Florida lawmaker is hoping to make an intersection where four people were killed in a crash this week safer.
The Martin County Sheriff's Office says the driver of a Tesla was likely traveling at an excessive rate of speed when the vehicle crashed into a minivan on Tuesday.
But State Representative John Snyder, whose father is Sheriff William Snyder, notes the 56 crashes at the same location since 2019 shows it is a dangerous intersection.
"We cannot allow our motorists to continue to try and peak out and cross, really four lanes of major highway traffic like we know is there on U.S. One."
Snyder tells CBS 12 News he has reached out to the Florida Department of Transportation to get a left-turn arrow installed.
A man says his parents, a retired couple in their 70's, were heading home from celebrating their wedding anniversary when the crash occurred. They were killed along with the 18 and 19 year olds in the Tesla.
