Florida woman arrested for speeding through hurricane relief checkpoint

Bonita Springs, FL - A woman's been arrested after she sped through a Southwest Florida hurricane relief checkpoint while driving under the influence.

According to the Lee County Sheriff's Office, 24-year-old Shelby Peters was arrested after she sped past deputies stationed at the Hickory Boulevard and Kings Kew checkpoint in Bonita Springs around 12:30 a.m.

Deputies say Peters continued traveling down Hickory Boulevard, before making a U-turn, and speeding back through the checkpoint.

A deputy in his patrol car followed Peters and attempted to pull her over, but Peters continued driving erratically, slowing down, speeding up, and swerving out of the lane.

Authorities say Peters finally stopped and took a 'selfie' of the traffic stop.

She was arrested on charges of fleeing and eluding, driving under the influence and curfew violation.
