South Florida Sees Surge In Respiratory Illnesses Like RSV

There's a surge in pediatric intensive care admissions across South Florida and it's not from COVID. Respiratory illnesses like R-S-V to blame for Broward Health having to open overflow ICU units to care for all the kids in just the past week alone Nurse Practitioner Meg Sorg says RSV and COVID can have similar symptoms, so test your kids as soon as they experience symptoms from trouble breathing, to fever, dehydration and or runny nose. R-S-V usually spreads between October and March. It can usually be treated with over-the-counter drugs, but infants and immuno-compromised individuals will need professional help.
