Officer-involved shooting in St. Pete overnight.
Police say a 31-year-old suspect, Cody Kiley, was killed after threatening his mother with a handgun inside a residence in the 45-hundred block of 20th Avenue North, then pointing the weapon at an officer. Pinellas County Chief Deputy Paul Halle says Kiley went into the back yard, where he waved a gun at Officer Stephen York and K-9 Loki. "At some point, the officer pulled the dog off Kiley, and Kiley was still threatening with the firearm," Halle said. "Officer York fired a number of shots, and Kiley is now dead in the back yard."
Kiley was pronounced dead at the scene. York has been placed on administrative leave. The incident is now under investigation by the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office
