Some parents in Manatee County are upset about a homework assignment.
The assignment was given to 6th-grade students at Nolan Middle School in Bradenton, and was reportedly based on a chapter in a state-approved textbook. It focused on bias in the media, and asked students to pick out the differences between two statements attributed to "reporters" about former President Trump's claims that the 2020 election was stolen.
One parent says he's unhappy that at a time when Florida is imposing restrictions on what teachers cannot say, some think teaching this political bias is acceptable.
The district issued a statement in response, saying the assignment does not meet its expectations, and a thorough review of future lessons is underway.
