A federal judge in West Palm Beach is holding a hearing on Thursday afternoon to decide whether to grant former President Trump's request for a special master to review documents seized from Mar-a-Lago.

The Department of Justice this week said Trump "lacks standing" for the appointment of an independent arbiter because the documents belong to the United States, not him. The DOJ also says they've already sorted through the documents.

The former president on his social media platform Truth Social says he had already "declassified" the documents before the FBI raided his Palm Beach home last month.

Trump's legal team filed papers on Wednesday, again pushing for a special master to decide questions of executive privilege.

The hearing is scheduled for 1 p.m.
