Homestead, FL - A student's been arrested after a South Florida charter school was placed on lockdown due to the student's threats.

Authorities say the male student was arrested after Keys Gate Charter School in Homestead was placed on lockdown on Thursday.

Administrators sent emails to notify parents of the lockdown.

Police were seen updating parents as they waited outside the school.

According to police, the male student made threats toward the school, but after officers searched the school and went classroom to classroom, no weapons were found.

Homestead Police Captain Fernando Morales says "making a threat in itself is against the law. Bringing a weapon is against the law. You will be arrested.”

Authorities also executed a search warrant of the student’s home late Thursday night.
