Man places fake fire alarm equipped with camera in Florida bathroom

Sanibel, FL - A man's been arrested after hiding a fake fire alarm equipped with a hidden camera inside a Southwest Florida bathroom.

Police arrested 58-year-old Dana Alan Caruso after Sanibel Police say the device was found in late July on the wall of a family bathroom at Bowman's Beach Park.

The Sanibel Police Department says the device was found inside the restroom on July 28th after a public works employee noticed the new device and notified authorities.

After verifying that the device wasn’t installed by the city, police obtained a warrant to open it.

Inside, they found a hidden camera.

Police launched an investigation which resulted in detectives obtaining an arrest warrant for Caruso.

Sanibel Police haven't release how they linked Caruso to the camera or if he was able to remotely access the pictures and videos taken.

Caruso was arrested on August 19th at Chicago's O'Hare airport on several felony charges.

He's currently jailed awaiting extradition to Lee County to face a judge.

Detectives with the Sanibel Police Department are looking to speak to anyone who used the family bathroom.
