Ten candidates for school board races across the state just received an endorsement from the Chairman of the Florida Democratic Party.
They include three incumbents in Palm Beach County, where the school board came under fire for keeping a mask mandate in place, defying state orders.
In a statement, Chairman Manny Diaz claims Governor DeSantis "has turned school board elections into new political battlegrounds and focused on his personal partisan politics," while citing learning deficiencies among Florida's students.
In addition to Marcia Andrews, Karen Brill and Erica Whitfield, the seven other newly endorsed candidates are in Collier, Flagler, Marion, Polk, Seminole and St. Lucie counties.
These candidates are in addition to the 18 previously endorsed by Diaz.
Gov. DeSantis has also endorsed 29 school board candidates whom he describes as "pro parent."
School Board races are officially non-partisan.
