Broward Detention Deputy Takes Stand In Nikolas Cruz Penalty Trial

Day #8 of testimony in the Nikolas Cruz penalty trial begins with the Broward Sheriff's Sergeant Cruz beat up in jail in November of 2018. Detention Deputy Raymond Beltran says Cruz got angry when he asked him to stop dragging his sandals on the ground while he was walking around. He says they both ended up on the ground, before Cruz got control of the taser which then discharged, but he's not sure exactly who pulled the trigger. No one was shocked and Sgt. Beltran says he got control of the stun gun before punching Cruz in the face. Cruz is charged with aggravated assault, battery on an officer and for using a stun gun against a law enforcement officer.
