Melbourne, FL - A man was arrested on charges of DUI after allegedly driving a motorized scooter while drunk into the shelves of a Florida Walmart.

Melbourne police say the man was driving a Walmart scooter and had a backpack with an opened bottle of Smirnoff vodka inside.

According to police, the man was swaying while driving the scooter and ran into shelves, nearly striking other customers.

The unidentified 39-year-old had "glassy eyes" and smelled of alcohol.

The driver was unresponsive when asked to show ID and had to be removed from the store on a stretcher.

He refused a breathalyzer test and was taken into custody.

The man was booked into the Brevard County Jail on charges of DUI, refusal with prior citation, disorderly intoxication and possession of an open container.
