South Florida teen arrested for making mass shooting threat on Snapchat

Cape Coral, FL - A 12-year-old boy was arrested after threatening a mass shooting on the social media site Snapchat.

12-year-old Evan Stahl, of North Port, was arrested by the Cape Coral Police Department after making the threat on Saturday.

According to police, Stahl posted a Snapchat story that read “to the person who said if i’m secure thanks wanna shoot up a school with me."

When investigators arrived to the residence Stahl was at, he told police he was unaware of the story, then claimed to have posted the story as a joke, before admitting to posting the story.

Police say Stahl told officers he didn't plan to follow through with the threat and didn't have access to firearms.

Stahl was taken to the Lee County Juvenile Assessment Center by the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.
