Changes within the Miami-Dade Police Department taking effect today.
Freddy Ramirez is taking on an expanded role as Chief of Safety and Emergency Response, overseeing both the Miami-Dade Police Department and Fire Rescue.
Interim Director George Perez is resuming his role as Assistant Director.
Patterson's new role as Chief of Corrections and Forensics sees him responsible for the Corrections and Rehabilitation Department and the Medical Examiner.
