Today Marks One-Year Since Wave Of Historic Cuban Protests

Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart holding a news conference later this morning (930a) marking the one-year anniversary of the most significant wave of protests in Cuba in decades. Marian Espienet took to the streets of Miami to stand in solidarity with her relatives on the communist island last July 11th. Hundreds of Cubans speaking out against medicine and food shortages and lack of COVID vaccines lost their lives or still remain jailed. Since the protests, the number of Cuban migrants trying to enter the U-S illegally has skyrocketed. There were about 38-thousand last year, that number is at least 79-thousand so far this year.
