ST. PETERSBURG, FL -- A 19-year-old man from Tampa faces a misdemeanor charge over the torching of a pan-African flag at the Uhuru headquarters on 18th Avenue South in St. Petersburg over the weekend.
Police say Kenny Raymond told them he didn't like "socialists" or the "ugly flag" he saw every day going to and from work. (The African People's Socialist Party is the parent group of the Uhuru Movement.) Raymond also said he hoped someone from the Uhuru group would come out and shoot him.
Officers confiscated the flamethrower.
