FISHHAWK -- Home fireworks may get the blame in two fires that damaged houses in West Central Florida Monday.
Hillsborough County Fire Rescue says a garage fire spread through a house on Soratrace Street in Fishhawk Monday evening, doing heavy damage. Flames broke through and damaged the roof. Overhead obstacles made air access difficult. The person who lives there brought used fireworks into the garage in a cardboard box without dousing them in water. The owner got two dogs out but a third is missing.
The Sarasota sheriff's office says a structure fire heavily damaged a home on Ashley Parkway.later Monday evening, possibly caused by fireworks.
Both incidents are still under investigation.
