Special Legislative Session On Property Insurance Begins Today

It's back to Tallahassee today for state senators beginning their special legislative session on the problem-plagued property-insurance system. There have been widespread issues with property insurance for 3 decades so hopes are not high this will lead to any real reform. Tony Carvajal with Florida TaxWatch says homeowners should not expect rates to go down, he's just hoping lawmakers can stop them from going up. He says lawmakers will also address reinsurance, building codes, protection and litigation. Governor DeSantis says he called the session to help homeowners who are losing coverage but seeing large rate spikes. The House goes into session Tuesday.
