Sentencing for the man who defaced an LGBTQ Pride Intersection has been delayed until June 8th.
A judge made that decision at the end of a hearing on Thursday where 21-year old Alexander Jerich apologized for using a pickup truck to create giant skid marks over the rainbow crosswalk in Delray Beach last June as he was coming from a parade to celebrate the birthday of former President Trump.
Judge Scott Suskauer ordered him to write reports on each of the 49 Pulse nightclub shooting victims and reflect on the loved ones they left behind.
"There's going to be an opportunity for you, sir. Take advantage of it."
Jerich last month pleaded guilty to destroying the art work. In court Thursday, he apologized for his actions.
"Sorry to the LGBTQ community."
The man has since paid the city $2,000 to repaint the crosswalk.
Rand Hoch with the Palm Beach County Human Rights Council wants Jerich to get at least a year in jail, but the judge says he's considering a maximum of 30 days, house arrest or just probation.
