Gov. DeSantis Calls Special Session; Calls Out Disney

Governor Ron DeSantis has called a special session of the Florida legislature after vetoing the Congressional District map. "We have a veto message that has attached this stellar memo from our general counsel who lays out what he has been saying from the very beginning as to why the approach taken from the very beginning was defective."

The special session is expected to take place in mid-April.

In a joint statement, Florida Senate President Wilton Simpson and Florida House Speaker Chris Sprowls say, "Our goal is for Florida to have a new congressional map passed by the Legislature, signed by the governor, and upheld by the court if challenged."

The governor is also calling out the Walt Disney Co. for its opposition to the Parental Rights in Education, or "Don't Say Gay" bill. In a statement, Disney said the bill should never have been passed, and the governor should never have signed it. "I think that crossed the line," DeSantis said. "This state is governed by the interests of the people. It is not based on the demands of California corporate executives. They do not run this state. They do not control this state." In an appearance on the Buck Sexton and Clay Travis show, the governor said Disney was never involved in the debate over the bill. "They think they control this state," he said, "and we're not going to be bending any knees to this 'woke' corporation."
