South Florida man vandalizes stores with rock, doesn't steal anything

A man was captured on surveillance video damaging several South Florida businesses on Monday.

The unidentified man was filmed throwing a chunk of cement at the security camera of one of three Fort Lauderdale businesses he vandalized.

The incidents occurred at a shopping center just south of Oakland Park Boulevard and Northwest Federal Highway.

The man is alleged to have smashed windows at a restaurant, a Verizon store and an eyewear store.

Exotic Eyewear Optical owner Panos Sarris says he finds the incident bizarre because the man didn’t steal anything from the businesses he vandalized, telling Local 10 News “just yelling and throwing the rock you know in the glass, and then he just walked here. And I guess he broke the glass on the other side and then he attacked the cameras you know with the rocks.”

Police are asking anyone with information regarding Monday’s crimes to contact Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
