A South Florida band claims a pop star stole their song's sound for her own smash hit.
Delray Beach-based reggae band Artikal Sound System is suing Dua Lipa over her hit "Levitating," claiming she and the writers and producers of the song stole from their 2017 song "Live Your Life."
The Florida band filed suit this week in Los Angeles federal court against Lipa, her writers, producers and Warner Records for copyright infringement.
The lawsuit claims it's "highly unlikely" that "Levitating" was written independently, given the similarities.
Artikal Sound System, which is performing at the Sunfest in West Palm Beach this spring, wants profits from the song that topped Billboard's Hot 100 year-end songs chart last year.
