DeSantis: France Probably Wouldn't Resist Russian Invasion

TAMPA -- Florida Governor Ron DeSantis took a swipe at another European country while talking about Ukraine's resistance to the Russian invasion.

Speaking at a news event in Tampa, DeSantis praised the Ukrainians' fighting spirit and wondered whether other nations could mount the same resistance to the invasion ordered by President Putin, and added "Can you imagine if (Putin) went into France? Would they do anything to put up a fight? Probably not."

French volunteers, including soldiers and doctors, are heading to Ukraine, and France has pledged more than $100 Million in humanitarian aid to Ukraine.

DeSantis was in Tampa to announce a $20 million grant to the Florida Center for Cybersecurity, based at the University of South Florida. The money will be distributed to encourage development of cybersecurity skills. The governor says it's important to fend off attacks from hackers in Russia. China, and rogue states including Venezuela and North Korea.

Governor DeSantis also responded to the State of the Union address, noting that the masks were off at the U.S. Capitol, and opining that "(Dr. Anthony) Fauci is in the witness protection program now," taking the scene as vindication for his policies in Florida.
