Two arrested by Florida deputies for pet selling scam

A man and women were arrested by Florida deputies for allegedly scamming people out of money by pretending to sell them dogs, then using that money to buy drugs.

Deputies with the Hendry County Sheriff’s Office arrested Jodi Pipkins and Paul Walker after receiving multiple reports that the pair would post a dog photo on Facebook then ask people to meet nearby to collect money in exchange for the dogs.

None of the victims of Pipkins and Walker’s scam received a dog.

Deputies went undercover and agreed to buy one of the dogs, planning to meet Walker at a nearby convenience store before placing him under arrest and taking him in for questioning.

Detectives also took Pipkins in for questioning, who admitted the two were scamming people and had no intention of actually selling dogs.

Pipkins told detectives that Walker used the money they collected to buy cocaine.

The two are facing multiple charges including grand theft.
